Sugar Babe was a Japanese soft-rock band formed in Tokyo, officially active from 1973 to 1976. The band initially began as an unnamed indie project in 1972 and made their debut with Niagara / ELEC in April 1973. They disbanded in April 1976 to allow members to pursue solo careers. Although the group did not achieve financial success during their time together, nearly all members became influential figures in the development of "Kayokyoku." The band also enjoyed considerable success with live performances on college campuses.
