정성조 Sung-Jo Jung
**Bio: Jung Sung-jo** Jung Sung-jo (정성조) was a South Korean jazz artist born on April 8, 1946. He made his debut as a saxophone player in 1967 and transitioned to film music direction with his debut in 1974 for the movie "Yesterday Rain," where he wrote the song "Yesterday Rain" for singer Yoon Hyung-joo to perform as part of the film's OST. In 1971, his quartet accompanied Kim Min-ki on his debut album. In 1977, Jung served as the music director for the film "Winter Woman," releasing soundtracks that included "Letters Written in Tears" by Kim Se-hwa and "Winter Stories" by Kim Se-hwa and Lee Young-sik, which gained popularity alongside the movie. He also held the position of head of the KBS Orchestra and served as a full-time professor at both Seoul National University of Arts and Seoul Institute of the Arts. Jung Sung-jo passed away from cancer on October 26, 2014, at the age of 68. His son, Jung Joong-hwa, is a jazz trombone player.
