Sunn O))) is an American doom/drone metal band formed in 1996, initially under the name Mars as a tribute to an unspecified entity. In March 1998, they renamed themselves Sunn O))) after their preferred amplifier brand. The two founding members have been present at every concert and release under the Sunn O))) name and have collaborated with various guests throughout their career.
