Sunny Ade and His African Beats is a Nigerian band that was formed after the split with Bolarinwa Abioro from African Songs Limited. Originally known as Green Spot, the band renamed itself African Beats in 1972 to avoid legal issues with a company that marketed a cigarette brand under the Green Spot name.
