Superman is a fictional superhero from American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster, who were high school students in Cleveland, Ohio, the character was developed in 1933. Superman was sold to Detective Comics, which later became known as DC Comics, in 1938.
