**Bio: Suspicious Can Openers** Suspicious Can Openers was a 1970s soul group hailing from Columbus, Ohio. The group initially gained recognition as a backing band before one of their members moved on to work in Detroit and Muscle Shoals. Comprised of several brothers from the McMahan family, they adopted a name inspired by the psychedelic scene and performed in local clubs for about a year. When their member returned to Columbus, he collaborated with manager Roy Hoover and Eddy Parker to form Mo-Soul Productions. By this time, the group had evolved into a large horn-funk ensemble. They recorded several of Parker's songs, including the energetic "Fever In Your Hot Pants" and the slower "Tuesday In The Rain," which served as a backing track for an unreleased vocal. Throughout the early 70s, Suspicious Can Openers played throughout the region and Midwest. In 1974, the Mo-Soul group released a 45 by Vikki Kenyatta, featuring a vocal version of "Tuesday In The Rain," utilizing the same instrumental recording from the Suspicious Can Openers. There is a possibility that the vocal was recorded earlier. The Mo-Soul team also released one more 45 on the Kandun label, although it remains unclear if any members of the Can Openers were involved, as the Jupiter's Release band is credited on that label.
