Sylvan Grey is a talented musician known for playing the 36-string Finnish folk zither, the kantele. She discovered this unique instrument during a trip to England and studied briefly with a highly regarded teacher from Finland. Upon returning to the United States, Grey dedicated herself to composing music for the kantele and honing her performance skills in coffeehouses. In 1981, she recorded her first album, which was re-released in 1988.
