T. Valentine, born on December 16, 1932, in West Helena, Arkansas, was a notable blues singer who recorded for various labels in Chicago, Illinois, during the 1960s. He served in the US Army for three years during the Korean Conflict before moving to Chicago, where he became immersed in the vibrant blues scene. In the mid-1950s, he wrote and produced a play titled "The Vampire," which originated as a song and was performed at various locations on the South Side of Chicago. His first recorded single was "Teenage Jump" and "Little Lu-Lu Frog" on Bea & Baby Records. In the 1960s, he established his own record label, Val Records, as well as a Gospel label called Cora Records. T. Valentine took pride in recording songs such as "Betty Sue," "Do the Do," "Black Power," and "Massius Ray" on his labels. His biggest hit came in 1983/4 with the song "Hello Lucille are you a Lesbian?" T. Valentine passed away on June 7, 2024.
