Taana Gardner, born on September 3, 1960, in Newark, NJ, is an American vocalist known for her contributions to the music scene. She began her career in 1979 by providing vocals for "Spooks In Space" by Aural Exciters, also known as Kid Creole and the Coconuts. Shortly after, she released her own tracks, including "Work That Body" and "When You Touch Me," featured on her LP for West End Records. In 1980, West End Records released her hit "Heartbeat," which was mixed by a renowned figure and became the top-selling 12-inch record in West End history.
