Tad is a heavy band formed by Tom Doyle in 1988 while he was living in Seattle. During the early 90s, they were part of the Seattle music scene, with a sound more akin to the Melvins than the more accessible grunge bands, making them one of the heaviest bands in town at that time. The band faced numerous legal challenges over their album covers, including 8-Way Santa and the Jack Pepsi single, as well as issues with promotional material for their Inhaler release that featured President Clinton. The ongoing legal troubles eventually took a toll on the band members, leading them to pursue other projects. Tad later formed a new band called Hog Molly. Current members of Tad include Tad Doyle on vocals and guitar, and Kurt Danielson on bass. Former members include Joel Elman and Joe Garner on guitar (both in 1988), Gary Thorstensen on guitar (1988-1994), Steve Wied on drums (1988-1991), Rey Washam on drums (1991), Josh Sinder on drums (1992-1996), and Mike Mongrain on drums (1996-1999).
