Talya Ferro is a singer and actress born in Madison, Wisconsin. She moved to Los Angeles with her mother during her childhood, where she attended high school and college, majoring in drama. After graduating, Talya had a dancing role in a production of "West Side Story" before relocating to New York City. One of her early jobs was as a dancer in Dinah Washington’s revue in Chicago. In 1965, she began singing professionally at The Horn in Santa Monica, California. By early 1967, she joined a trio led by Brazilian jazz organist, performing at P.J.’s in Hollywood for three months, playing Shepheard’s in New York, and appearing on the Johnny Carson 'Tonight' show. During this time, she also made her film debut in "For Singles Only," where she collaborated with Wanderley, writing the lyrics for the song "Take A Chance With Me."
