Tamba Trio was a pioneering Brazilian ensemble formed in the early 1960s by pianist and vocalist Luiz Eça, drummer and percussionist Hélcio Milito, and flutist and saxophonist Bebeto Castilho. Renowned for their sophisticated blend of bossa nova, samba, and jazz, they brought a new level of harmonic complexity and rhythmic interplay to Brazilian music. Their innovative arrangements and virtuosic musicianship influenced generations of artists and helped introduce bossa nova to international audiences, leaving a lasting mark on modern Latin jazz.
