Marie-Louise-Taos Amrouche, born on March 4, 1913, in Tunis, Tunisia, was a Kabyle Algerian writer and singer. She made history in 1947 by becoming the first Algerian woman to publish a novel. Amrouche passed away on April 2, 1976, in Saint-Michel-l'Observatoire, France.
