Tara Cross, born in 1957, discovered her passion for music at the age of 13 when she began playing the guitar. She later experimented with an Electro-Harmonix mini synthesizer and a primitive drum box. After completing her studies in Music and Psychology at Hunter College in New York, she chose not to pursue academic music, focusing instead on the performing arts and joining various musical groups. Despite her family's opposition, she dedicated herself to an unconventional and experimental music career, handling all aspects of her work, including production, composition, performance, public relations, and administration. Tara has held various jobs, including librarian, shop assistant, and typist, with a particular fondness for cosmetology. As a musician, she sees herself as a sound structurer, experimenting with sound like a painter with colors. Her works have appeared in numerous compilations across Japan, Spain, and France, and she has contributed to 25 different tapes. Her first solo LP, "Tempus Fugit," was released under the label Permis de Construire. Notably, she performed live in 1987 at "Fashion Moda" in the Bronx, with the performance broadcast live via satellite to France and on WNYC in New York. However, she dislikes live performances due to the logistical challenges of preparing her own recordings and transporting equipment.
