Teca Calazans, born on October 20, 1940, in Vitória, Espírito Santo, is a Brazilian singer and songwriter. Raised in Recife, she learned to play guitar and developed an interest in the music and folklore of Pernambuco. In 1964, she participated in a theater group alongside Geraldo Azevedo and Nana Vasconcelos. In 1967, she recorded a compact single featuring "Aquela Rosa" with Geraldo Azevedo. Teca moved to Rio de Janeiro in 1968, where she also worked as an actress. In 1970, she traveled to France, where she lived for ten years before returning to Brazil. She made her way back to France in 1989.
