Teisutis Makačinas, born on September 5, 1938, in Kaunas, is a distinguished Lithuanian and Soviet composer, teacher, and conductor. He has served as a professor at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater since 1996 and is recognized as an Honored Art Worker of the Lithuanian SSR. A recipient of the S. Šimkus Republican prize in both 1967 and 1969, Makačinas also holds the position of president of the Lithuanian Copyright Association. Notably, he is considered one of the pioneers of disco in the USSR, contributing to the evolution of Soviet space sound. His disco works, reminiscent of the hits by Space and Giorgio Moroder, have garnered appreciation for their unique style.
