Telegraph Avenue was a notable four-piece band from the Lima music scene, formed in mid-1969. They drew their name from a famous avenue in California and were known for their unique blend of melodic vocals, psychedelic rock, and Latin rhythms. The band consisted of members who played guitars, bass, and drums, and they were dedicated to composing their own songs from the outset. Before releasing their first album, Telegraph Avenue gained popularity by performing at various events, including graduation parties and celebrations for clubs such as Club de Leones and Club Hebraica. They even played in an empty swimming pool at one point. A significant concert at the University of Lima in November 1970 led to regular weekend bookings throughout the year. In June 1971, the band released their self-titled debut album (Repsychled CD 1006), which featured eight songs and achieved great sales and recognition in Peru. They composed over twenty songs during this time, including "Feel," "Hello misses moon," and "People see me crying." However, by the end of 1971, they decided to take a break. In 1972, members Alex and Walo briefly formed the band Tarkus with two Argentine musicians, releasing a self-titled album before dissolving. They later formed Ganímedes, which included Melissa Griffiths and Germán Cabieses, but this group never recorded. Telegraph Avenue reunited in December 1972 to record two songs, "It’s OK"
