Television is an American rock band formed in New York City in 1973. The band was active from 1973 to 1978, then again from 1991 to 1993, and finally from 2001 until 2023. In 2007, guitarist Richard Lloyd announced his amicable departure from the band and was replaced by Jimmy Rip, who had been playing with Tom Verlaine since the early 1980s. The band's journey came to an end with the death of Tom Verlaine in 2023.
