Ten Years After is a British blues and blues rock band that originated in the Nottingham area in 1962. Initially known as Blues Yard, they signed with a manager in November 1966 under the name Blues Trip, before settling on Ten Years After, a name that references the ten years since Elvis's big break in 1956, who was one of guitarist Alvin Lee's idols. The band released their self-titled debut album the following year and achieved eight consecutive Top 40 hit albums in the UK. After releasing 11 albums, they split up in 1974 but reunited several times in 1983, 1988, and 1999. Their big break came with the song "Going Home," originally released in 1968, but it was the live recording of this track from their classic performance at Woodstock on August 17, 1969, that charted in 1971.
