Tenacious D is a comedic rock band hailing from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1994. The band's name is derived from the basketball term "tenacious defense." The core members include the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, as well as the lead guitarist and backing vocalist. Since 2005, additional members have included a guitarist and backing vocalist, along with a bassist who also plays keys, piano, and provides backing vocals. The band also features a drummer and pianist. A former drummer was part of the group from 2006 to 2015.
