Terence Trent D'arby, born Terence Trent Howard on March 15, 1962, in New York City, is an American singer-songwriter. He legally changed his name to Sananda Francesco Maitreya in 1995 and has since artistically adopted the name Sananda Maitreya. In addition to his musical career, he was a member of the U.S. Boxing team.
