Teresa Carpio is a Hong Kong English pop and Cantopop singer, actor, and singing teacher, born on September 30, 1956, in Hong Kong. She is the mother of singer T. V. Carpio. From 1975 onwards, Carpio hosted her own TV variety show in Hong Kong, where she performed both solo and with several of her siblings. She began releasing albums in Hong Kong in 1976, with early releases under EMI, including the "Sound Hit" series on vinyl. Six of her albums under EMI achieved gold status, featuring cover versions of Western hits, including a collaboration with George Lam. Carpio made numerous television appearances in Hong Kong during the late 1970s and became the first and youngest Hong Kong singer to appear on national TV in Japan. She has performed in various countries, including Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Tahiti, Australia, Japan, Thailand, Brunei, the USA, and Canada. With the rise of Cantopop, Carpio expanded her recording repertoire to include Cantonese alongside English.
