Teresa Teng, born on January 29, 1953, was a Taiwanese singer renowned across East Asia and among Chinese communities worldwide. She passed away on May 8, 1995, due to a severe asthma attack while traveling in Thailand. Throughout her career, Teresa's discography is divided into three main periods: from 1967 to 1971 with Universe Records, where she primarily performed Taiwanese folk songs for TV series soundtracks; from 1971 to 1975 with Lai Wing Music (Life) Records, focusing on movie soundtracks; and from 1975 to 1995 with Polygram and Taurus, where she became famous for her popular Mandarin, Japanese, Cantonese, and English songs. Her stage names include 鄧麗君 in Chinese, 등려군 in Korean, テレサ・テン in Japanese, and Đặng Lệ Quân in Vietnamese.
