Terence Ashley Burrows, known as Terry Burrows, is an English author, multi-instrumental musician, and producer based in London. He is best recognized for his work under the alias Yukio Yung and as a co-founder of bands such as The Chrysanthemums, Tonesucker, and Family Yung. Burrows has authored nearly one hundred books covering topics in music history, theory, technology, business, popular psychology, and modern history, with notable titles including The Art of Sound and Mute: A Visual Document. Born in Ipswich, Suffolk, Burrows began studying classical piano at age five and later taught himself guitar, bass, drums, and saxophone. He founded the indie label Hamster Records in his teens, releasing albums from various non-commercial acts and his own music as Jung Analysts. His first release as Yukio Yung came in the late 1980s with the LP Tree Climbing Goats (And Other Analysing Shanties). Burrows was the lead singer and keyboard player for The Chrysanthemums, a psychedelic art pop band that gained a cult following and was recognized by MusikExpress as one of the most underrated bands of all time. Throughout his career, Burrows has collaborated with celebrated musicians, including Asmus Tietchens and R. Stevie Moore.
