Tewelde Redda is an Eritrean guitarist, composer, and band leader, born in 1941 in Asmara. In 1969, he moved to Addis Ababa to pursue a career in music, recording for labels such as Philips and Amha. He released several 7" records, either as a solo artist or by backing other musicians with his band. In the mid-1970s, he left Ethiopia due to the conflict in Eritrea, which was fighting for independence. In 1989, he relocated to the Netherlands, where he currently resides.
