The Mockingbirds were a British rock band formed in Manchester in 1964, featuring Graham Gouldman (guitar/vocals), Steve Jacobsen, Bernard Basso, and Kevin Godley (drums). Despite Gouldman's songwriting success with hits for The Yardbirds, The Hollies, and Herman's Hermits, The Mockingbirds released five singles between 1965 and 1966 without commercial success. Their song "You Stole My Love," co-produced by Giorgio Gomelsky and Paul Samwell-Smith and featuring vocalist Julie Driscoll, was particularly ambitious but failed to chart. Following the band's dissolution, Gouldman and Godley later reunited, leading to the formation of the influential band 10cc.
