The Peanuts (ザ・ピーナッツ, Za Pīnattsu) were a Japanese vocal duo formed by twin sisters Emi (伊藤エミ, Itō Emi) and Yumi (伊藤ユミ, Itō Yumi), born on April 1, 1941, in Tokoname, Japan. Known for their closely matched vocal timbres, their harmonies often created a sound reminiscent of double tracking or reverb. They gained international recognition after performing "Lover Come Back to Me" on The Ed Sullivan Show on April 3, 1966. The sisters were discovered while singing at a nightclub in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, and they also portrayed Shobijin (Little Beauties) in the “Mothra” movie series.
