The Tartans were a Jamaican rocksteady group formed in 1967 by Prince Lincoln Thompson, Cedric Myton, Devon Russell, and Lindberg Lewis. Known for their soulful harmonies and socially conscious lyrics, the quartet emerged during the golden era of rocksteady, releasing tracks like “Dance All Night” and “Far Beyond the Sun.” Though their time together was brief, The Tartans laid the foundation for influential later projects, including The Royal Rasses and The Congos, leaving a lasting imprint on Jamaica’s evolving reggae and roots music landscape.
