The Utopians are a Belgian "funky reggae" ensemble formed during the 2020 lockdown by bassist Arnaud Pemmers and guitarist/vocalist Romain Trigaux. They were soon joined by lead vocalist/guitarist Nicolas Nsakala and keyboardist Yoann Grudzien. Drawing from 1960s and 1970s rocksteady, early reggae, and funk, their music is recorded analog-style at Badasonic Studio in Charleroi. Their debut EP, "How The World Turns," was released in April 2023, with a full-length album anticipated in 2024. Beyond their own performances, The Utopians serve as the backing band for Jamaican artists Winston Francis, Alpheus, and occasionally Stranger Cole.
