The Ad-Libs were an American vocal group from Bayonne, New Jersey, founded in 1964. The original lineup included Hugh Harris, Danny Austin, Dave Watt, Norman Donegan, and Mary Ann Thomas. They recorded for Blue Cat Records, a subsidiary of Leiber/Stoller and George Goldner's Red Bird Records, and toured with notable artists like Dionne Warwick and Chuck Berry. The group also performed alongside Joe Tex, Little Anthony and the Imperials, and Del Shannon. However, as their subsequent recordings saw diminishing success, their popularity waned, leading to changes in personnel. The new iteration of The Ad-Libs was signed to AGP Records and featured Arthur Robinson, Irene Baker, Hugh Harris, Rose Myers, and David Watt, with Chris Bartley joining the lineup. They collaborated with the talented writer and producer Van McCoy. Arthur Robinson took the lead on a remake of the ballad "Human," originally by former Flamingos member Tommy Hunt.
