The Ad Libs were an American vocal group hailing from Bayonne, New Jersey, founded in 1964. The original lineup included Hugh Harris, Danny Austin, Dave Watt, Norman Donegan, and Mary Ann Thomas. They recorded for Blue Cat Records, a subsidiary of Leiber/Stoller and George Goldner's Red Bird Records, and toured with notable acts such as Dionne Warwick and Chuck Berry. Additionally, they shared stages with Joe Tex, Little Anthony and the Imperials, and Del Shannon. However, as their subsequent recordings saw diminished success, the group's popularity waned, leading to changes in personnel. The new iteration of The Ad Libs, signed to AGP Records, featured Arthur Robinson, Irene Baker, Hugh Harris, Rose Myers, and David Watt, along with Chris Bartley. They collaborated with the talented writer and producer Van McCoy. Arthur Robinson took the lead on their remake of "Human," a ballad originally by former Flamingos member Tommy Hunt.
