The Art Attacks was a British punk band active from April 1977 to March 1978, with a brief reformation in 1979. Formed by Edwin Pouncey and Steve Spear, two students from the Royal College of Art in London, the band initially came together for a one-off gig at their college. Their performance at Wimbledon College of Art marked the beginning of their short-lived career. The Art Attacks released singles including "I am a Dalek/Neutron Bomb" and "Punk Rock Stars/Rat City." They contributed two tracks, "Frankensteins Heartbeat" and "Animal Bondage," to the "Live at the Vortex" compilation album (NEMS) and one track, "Arabs in Arrads," to the "Streets" compilation album (Beggars Banquet). The band played at various London punk clubs and pubs, such as The Marquee, Nashville, and Vortex, supporting notable acts like Generation X, 999, The Motors, and The Lurkers. They also performed at venues outside of London in the south and northeast of England. Over the years, their tracks appeared on various punk compilations and were eventually collected and released alongside a bootleg live recording on the "Outrage and Horror" album (Overground Records).
