The Association is an American band from California, formed in February 1965, known for their tight vocal harmonies and numerous hits in the 1960s that reached the top of the Billboard charts. They are often associated with the "sunshine pop" genre, although some members reject this label. The group initially consisted of six members from a 13-piece band called The Men, including Bob Page (who was quickly replaced), and other vocalists, songwriters, and multi-instrumentalists. Jules Alexander left the band in 1967 after their second album but returned in 1968, expanding the group to seven members. After their fifth album in 1969, Russ Giguere departed, and a keyboard player joined the lineup. The band faced challenges after the 1972 death of Brian Cole, leading to the gradual departure of members throughout the 1970s, with Ted Bluechel eventually being the last original member remaining. In the early 1980s, surviving members reunited, and in September 2003, The Association was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. They continue to perform today, featuring original members Jules Alexander and Jim Yester, along with Del Ramos and Jordan Cole.
