The Avalanches are an electronic music group hailing from Melbourne, Australia. They are best known for their live DJ sets and their debut album, Since I Left You, which was uniquely created using around 3,500 vinyl samples. The band's name, which was the last of several one-off stage names from their early career, was inspired by a 1960s surf album.
