The Avons were a British vocal group formed by step-sisters Valerie and Elaine Murtagh, who were later joined by Raymond S. Adams. They signed their recording contract after being brought to the music scene, and their biggest hit was their first recording, a cover of "Seven Little Girls (Sitting In The Back Seat)," which reached No. 3 on the U.K. singles chart. The group's career lasted until the mid-1960s, after which one of the sisters became a successful songwriter with her professional partner. It is important to note that they should not be confused with the 1950s doo wop group or the Nashville R&B female group of the early 1960s.
