The Barry Sisters were a Jewish singing duo from the Bronx, New York, consisting of Claire Barry (née Clara Bagelman, 1920-2014) and Merna Barry (née Minnie Bagelman, 1923-1976). Their career as Yiddish jazz singers spanned from the late 1930s to the early 1970s. They gained prominence after their version of the Yiddish song "Bei Mir Bist Du Schön" became a hit, leading to their performance on the Yiddish Melodies in Swing radio program on New York's WHN from 1937 until the mid-1950s. The sisters made television appearances on shows such as The Ed Sullivan Show, The Jack Parr Show, and Tonight. Notably, they were one of the few American acts to tour the Soviet Union in 1959 and entertained Israeli troops during the Yom Kippur War in 1973. Initially signed to RCA in the 1930s, they later adopted the stage name The Barry Sisters for radio. Throughout their career, they recorded numerous 78s and 45s, as well as 11 LPs by 1973.
