The Bats are an influential rock band from New Zealand, formed in 1982 in Christchurch. The band consists of Paul Kean (bass), Malcolm Grant (drums), Robert Scott (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards), and Kaye Woodward (lead guitar, vocals). While primarily based in Christchurch, The Bats have strong connections to Dunedin and are often associated with the Dunedin sound movement that emerged in the early 1980s. Remarkably, the band has maintained the same four members since its inception.
