The Beloved is a British electronica band founded by Jon Marsh. The group initially formed in 1983 by Jon Marsh and Steve Waddington, later recruiting Tim Havard on bass. In 1984, after the addition of drummer Guy Gausden, they were renamed The Beloved and began performing live. The band gained recognition with two Peel Sessions in 1985 and four single releases in 1986 and 1987. In early 1988, they reverted to the original duo of Marsh and Waddington. With a major label, they released "Loving Feeling," followed by the club hit "Your Love Takes Me Higher," and their breakthrough single "The Sun Rising," which reached #26 in the UK Charts in autumn 1989. They released the album "Happiness" and its remix album "Blissed Out" in 1990, but Waddington left the band the following year. The Beloved returned in 1993 as a duo of Jon Marsh and his wife Helena, achieving major success with the single "Sweet Harmony" in the UK and Europe. This was followed by the album "Conscience" and two more singles, and in 1996, they released the album "X," featuring the top 20 hit "Satellite." The band has neither split nor ceased operations, but is currently dormant. The line-ups have included: 1984 - 1987: Jon Marsh, Steve Waddington, Tim Havard,
