**Bio: The Big Town Boys** The Big Town Boys, originally formed by singer Tommy Graham, emerged from the Toronto music scene in the early 1960s. Graham, who had joined his first band in 1958, honed his skills in Los Angeles before returning to Canada in 1963. Under the guidance of Club Bluenote owner Al Steiner, he formed The Big Town Boys, featuring band members Brian Massey, John Henderson, Peter “Josh” Collins, Michael Lewis, and James Arndt. The group gained recognition as backing musicians for vocalist Shirley Matthews on Tamarac Records, contributing to hits like “Big Town Boy” (1963) and “Private Property” (1964). They later signed with RCA Victor, releasing the single “Put You Down” in 1965, before moving to Capitol Records for more singles through 1965 and 1966. Eventually, they became known as Big Town Boys 4 after signing with Yorkville Records. The band toured extensively across Canada and served as the host band on CTV’s ‘After Four’ television show. They also gained popularity in New York City, sharing stages with emerging artists such as Jimi Hendrix. By 1968, the band had run its course, with Graham finding success as a solo artist and Michael Lewis pursuing a musical career in Germany.
