The Black Albinos were a Dutch Indo rock/beat band formed in The Hague in the autumn of 1960 by Joop van Heusden. The group primarily played instrumental rock & roll characterized by heavy echo effects and featured various singers throughout their performances. The original lineup included Joop Jonkers (vocals, stage name Dean Holley), Joop van Heusden (lead guitar), Simon Lardenoy (bass guitar), Martin de Roo (drums), and Paul v.d. Voort Maarschalk (rhythm guitar, who later joined the Specials). The band adopted their unique name, "The Black Albinos," because only Joop van Heusden was noticeably blond, while the other members had dark hair. In 1962, The Black Albinos made an appearance on the radio program "Tot uw orders" and had their television debut on the show "Rooster." That same year, they signed a recording contract with Delta and released their first single, "Shish Kebab," with "St. Louis Blues" as the B-side. However, after this release, the band did not perform for some time. Their discography spans from 1962 to 2001, although they were inactive between 1965 and 1994.
