The Blasters, formed in 1979 in Downey, CA, are known for their unique blend of "American Music," which incorporates elements of blues, rockabilly, early rock and roll, punk rock, mountain music, and rhythm and blues. The band's lineup has included notable members such as Phil Alvin (vocals, harmonica, guitar), John Bazz (bass), and Bill Bateman (drums), among others. Despite receiving largely positive critical reviews and maintaining a devoted fan base, The Blasters have achieved only limited mainstream success. Critic Mark Deming praised them for their musical diversity and described them as a "supremely tight and tasteful band with enough fire, smarts, and passion for two or three groups."
