The Bleu Forest was a garage/psych band formed in 1966 in Ventura County, California. The group consisted of Ron Barkley (lead guitar, vocals), Jack Caviness (drums), Mike Cullen (guitar, vocals), Gary Heuer (lead guitar, vocals), Ed Steele (drums, vocals), and Larry Wiseman (keyboards). Influenced by prominent bands of the era such as Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix & The Experience, and The Grateful Dead, Bleu Forest emerged from a vibrant scene where enthusiastic teenagers across the U.S. expressed their ideas during a transformative time. Despite their potential, the band faded as the '60s transitioned into the '70s. Only a handful of people have heard their unreleased recordings from 1968, which were discovered in Caviness's basement. These recordings are considered a lost psych-garage classic, showcasing a blend of groovy melodies reminiscent of Moby Grape and the heaviness of Steppenwolf.
