**The Blow Monkeys Bio** The Blow Monkeys, fronted by lead singer and songwriter Dr. Robert (born Bruce Robert Howard on May 2, 1961, in Haddington, Scotland), formed in 1981 after Howard returned to the UK from Australia. The band consists of Mick Anker on bass guitar, Neville Henry on saxophone, and Tony Kiley on drums (born February 16, 1962). The group released their debut album, *Limping for a Generation*, in 1984, but their first hit single, "Digging Your Scene," came in 1986 from their second album, *Animal Magic*, which reached number 21 in the UK Albums Chart. The single garnered attention for its topical lyrics regarding the AIDS crisis and peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100, No. 12 in the UK Singles Chart, and charted in several other countries. In January 1987, they released their third album, *She Was Only a Grocer's Daughter*, which included their biggest hit, "It Doesn't Have to Be This Way," reaching No. 5 in the UK. Although it was released in the U.S., it did not chart there. The song "You Don't Own Me" also appeared on the *Dirty Dancing* soundtrack. Dr. Robert achieved solo success with the single "Wait," featuring Kym Mazelle, which reached No. 7 in the UK chart.
