**The Blue Birds** were a pioneering garage band formed in the port town of Piraeus, Greece. They gained national recognition with their hit single "Julie," released in mid-1965 on Philips as a promotional single for the ROL laundry detergent, accompanied by an instrumental track by Gerasimos Lavranos. Their follow-up 45, featuring "Sweet Polly" and "Just Remember," showcased excellent garage sounds with notable farfisa organ playing and harmonies. Despite their success, the group never performed live initially, which contributed to a growing legend around them but also led to poor sales of their other singles. Their first concert occurred in May 1966, after "Julie" had faded from public attention. The lineup changed in 1967 when two main members, Petridis and Louloudis, left the band and were replaced by the duet Manolis and Lia Laoutari. This transition brought a shift in their music towards more psychedelic and folk influences, as they began to write songs with Christian themes. The Blue Birds participated in the National Song Festival of Saloniki in 1972 with the song "Ξύλινος Σταυρός" (Wooden Cross). Over their career, they released a total of thirteen 45s and one LP album titled "Οδός Αγάπης ενταύθα." The band disbanded in 1976 after a second attempt at the National Song Festival with the song "Πάμε καλά"
