**Bio: The Blue Splendor** The Blue Splendor is a historic Chilean band formed in 1964 in the city of Valparaíso. Founded by passionate rock and roll students, the group emerged during the height of the Nueva Ola but distinguished itself with a sound more aligned with beat, twist, and garage, setting them apart from the more commercial pop bands of the time. Originally composed of Carlos Muñoz (vocals and guitar), Carlos González (lead guitar), Orlando Muñoz (bass), and Jorge Saavedra (drums), the lineup has changed over the years. Their name reflects the direct influence of Anglo bands like The Shadows and The Ventures, while also incorporating elements of soul, instrumental surf, and light psychedelia. Throughout the 60s and 70s, The Blue Splendor became a reference for danceable youth music in central Chile, particularly in Valparaíso, Viña del Mar, and Santiago. They recorded several singles on 7” format for labels like Arena and Demon, showcasing their versatility in instrumental repertoires, covers of international hits, and original compositions. Some of their most well-known recordings include: - "Amazonas," a surf-influenced song with catchy lyrics, popular on local radio. - "Tema de Lara," an instrumental version of the theme from Doctor Zhivago. - "La Batalla de Puebla," an instrumental piece with martial undertones. - "No tengo dinero," an adaptation of Juan Gabriel
