The Books was formed in New York City in 2000 when Zammuto and De Jong became neighbors in Inwood, a neighborhood in northern Manhattan. Their music blends elements of folk and acoustic styles with electronic undertones. The duo handles all production and mastering work on their home computers. The group disbanded in January 2012.
