The Brides of Funkenstein were an American female vocal group that emerged in the mid-1970s. The original members were two vocalists who had previously sung background for Sly Stone. They first met Sly while he was opening for another act and were invited to join the P-Funk camp in 1977. In 1978, the Brides released their debut album, which featured the hit single "Disco to Go" and achieved gold status. They toured with P-Funk during the "One Nation Under a Groove" tour, but one of the original members, Lynn, left the group in 1979 due to financial disputes and her pregnancy. The second version of the Brides included original member Dawn Silva, along with new members, and a session vocalist from Atlantic Records. They released their second album in 1979, which received critical acclaim but only modest commercial success. The group began working on a never-released third album, but financial and creative disputes ultimately led to their breakup.
