The Briks is a garage rock band hailing from Denton, Texas. The band's origins trace back to 1965 when they were known as the Embers, formed at Texas Tech in Lubbock. The original lineup included Richard Borgens on vocals and lead guitar, Lee Hardesty on guitar, Bobby Daniels, and Steve Martin on drums. After relocating to Denton and Gainesville, Texas, where some members attended Cooke County Junior College, they met Cecil Cotten, who became their lead singer, and bassist Mike Meroney. This lineup led to the band adopting the name The Briks.
