The Brothers Johnson is an American soul, funk, jazz, and disco band formed in 1975 in Los Angeles, California. The band is led by brothers whose names are not specified, and initially included their cousin as part of the line-up. They began their careers as backing musicians for various artists before launching their own career with the help of a producer who also brought them to prominence by featuring them on his album, which was released in 1975. The Brothers Johnson recorded eight albums between 1976 and 1988, achieving fame with their disco hit "Stomp!" in 1980 and their cover of the classic song "I'll Be Good to You" in 1977.
