**Bio: The Bubble Puppy** The Bubble Puppy was a psychedelic rock group formed in 1966 in San Antonio, Texas, by Rod Prince and Roy Cox. The band aimed to create a "top gun rock band" with a focus on dual lead guitars, a unique approach in the psychedelic music scene at the time. Along with Todd Potter, a gymnast and saxophone player, and Danny Segovia, the original lineup was established. The name "Bubble Puppy" was inspired by "Centrifugal Bumble-Puppy," a fictional game from Aldous Huxley's *Brave New World*. Their live debut was as the opening act for The Who in San Antonio. After several lineup changes, the final roster included Rod Prince and Todd Potter on lead guitars, Roy Cox on bass guitar, and David "Fuzzy" Fore on drums. In 1967, the band relocated to Austin, Texas, and signed with International Artists, known for representing acts like the 13th Floor Elevators and the Red Krayola. Bubble Puppy achieved a Top-20 U.S. hit in 1969 with "Hot Smoke & Sasafrass," which peaked at number 14 on the Billboard 100 and was inspired by a misheard line from *The Beverly Hillbillies*.
